Democracy is a universal value based on the freely expressed will of people to determine their own political, economic, social, and cultural systems and their full participation in all aspects of their lives.International Day of Democracy is an opportunity to assess issues like human rights, equality, and conflict resolution throughout the world.It also highlights that democracy needs the participation of all citizens and encourages action and motivates people to work collectively for a fairer and more representative government. To inculcate the values of freedom and respect for human rights in students, Bhavan’s Public School organised an assembly on International Day of Democracy.The assembly was conductedon 20thDecember 2021 by students of class IX with great exuberance. The children began the morning by thanking God and seeking His blessing as they started a new day. This was followed by the thought for the day and a beautiful hymn. An informative speech was delivered to the students that give them the message that, the ultimate goal of democracy is to preserve and promote the dignity and fundamental rights of the individual, achieve social cohesion and justiceand well-being of every citizen.The highlight of the programme was thequiz based on the topic ‘Democracy’.The whole programme was administered in the presence of school Principal Mr. M.P. Philip, Academic Coordinator Mrs Vichithraand Activity Coordinator Mr. Shaiju Dhamani. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.
