Bhavan’s Public School premises witnessed Onam celebrations on September 11.It was marvellous to see the young butterflies in traditional Kerala dress singing and dancing. The cultural programmes included the welcoming of Mahabali in traditional style. Students and teachers performed thiruvathirakali, a graceful danced which is performed by women. The celebration kicked off with the lighting of Nilavilakku followed by the traditional dance Kummatikkali and Vanjippaatt to welcome the Mahabali and Vamana to the stage. Oonjaalaattom was an added attraction followed by an array of alluring events including Thiruvathira, Thumbi Thullal and group songs by teachers and students. The games such as Uriyadi and musical chair added fun to the festive mood .The Principal Mr.M. P Philip conveyed the message of brotherhood and expressed his pleasure for being a part of it. The special occasion was graced by the school administrator Mrs.Anjana Menon. The Vice Principal conveyed the message of unity in diversity and appreciated the efforts of the Activity Coordinator, Malayalam and Physical Education departments for organizing the program and making it an ever memorable one. Ms.Shailaja Krishnakumar and Ms.Asha Shiju conveyed their greetings of the festival to the gathering. Various competitions were held for the students which helped to reincarnate a past of prosperity and goodness.
