World Day Against Child Labour ,12th June 2014

Bhavan’s Public school observed the World Day Against child Labour on 12th June at both its premises simultaneously. In this connection an elocution competition was conducted for classes VI to X on the day’s topic. There were a good number of entries which showed the awareness on the topic and the enthusiasm to speak against the exploitation of child labour.
At matar Qadeem campus, Mrs.Nimna Co-Convenor of the Literary Club welcomed the gathering and Mrs. Prabhavathi Nambiar, Vice Principal addressed the students on the importance of the day. At Wakra campus, Mr.Raju Bharathan, Convenor Literary club welcomed the gathering followed by the elocution competition against child labour. The contestants spoke at length and pointed out that the exploitation of the nibbling hands by the employers  which is still prevalent in some of the countries should be discouraged and banned totally for the welfare of the children all over the world. The competition was judged by a panel of judges and results declared.

World Environment Day, 5th June 2014

Bhavan’s Public school observed the World Environment Day for two days on 4th and 5th June, 2014 at Matar Qadeem Campus. The Chief Guest was Mr. Herald Moras, Head of Green Banking, Doha Bank, Qatar. The programme started with planting of saplings in the Bhavan’s Vegetable Garden by the Chief Guest and Mr. J. K. Menon, Acting Chairman, BHPS in the presence of other dignitaries and the Eco Club members. The guests were then led to the dais for a formal function which started off with a prayer by Master Nikhal of Std. VII followed by a welcome song by the students of Wakra Campus. The lyrics were written by Mr.Ranjeet Nair, Hindi teacher and composed by Mr.Bidul Thyagarajan the music teacher. A musical based skit organized by Mrs. Shyna Anil, Academic Coordinator was staged by the students of Matar Qadeem depicting the depletion of Mother Nature due to pollution. The skit created an awareness among the students in protecting the nature and its development should aim at the goodness of mankind. The Principal, Mr. V. L. Balasubrahmanian, welcomed the gathering and highlighted on the importance of the day. Mr. J. K. Menon, Acting Chairman, BHPS, presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. His strong message conveyed to the students to take care of Mother Earth and not to waste the resources or pollute the nature. In the keynote address the Chief Guest lauded the school for putting up such programmes and their achievements in the School Environmental Projects of Green Banking, Doha Bank. He explained to the students on this year’s theme “Raise your Voice Not the Sea level”. On this occasion the Eco Club conducted an exhibition on “Best out of Waste” and brought out two Hand Written magazines “Biorhythm” and “Dreams” which were released by the Chief Guest and were handed over to Mr. R. O. Abdul Khadar, vice chairman and Mrs. Anjana Menon, Administrator, BHPS respectively. Master Joel Shibu of Std.I spoke of the duties by future generation in protecting the nature and the earth. After the formal function, the Principal and the Vice Principal led the Chief Guest and other dignitaries to the exhibition venue for the inauguration of the same. The exhibits were judged by Mr.Baburajan, General Secretary, Mr.A. P. Manikantan, vice president and Mr. Hameed, Director BHPS. The programme was compered by Mrs. Shyna Anil, Academic Coordinator and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Rajeev, Convenor, Eco Club.

Investiture Ceremony, 2nd June 2014

The student Prefect Council of Bhavan’s Public school was inducted in an Investiture Ceremony on 2nd June, 2014 at its Matar Qadeem Campus. The Chief Guest was Mr.Sahal Ghanim, Warrant Officer from the Community Policing, Doha, Qatar. The programme started with the Leaders’ Slow March followed by prayer. The Principal Mr. Balasubramanian welcomed the gathering and spoke to the leaders of their  responsibilities. Mr.Saleem Ponnambath delivered the Presidential address and spoke on the qualities of a leader.
The highlight of the day was the Investiture Ceremony, the school leader, the Deputy School leader, the House captains, the Deputy House captains and all the class prefects were given badges by the Chief Guest and the Board of Directors of BHPS. The Principal administered the Oath to the appointed leaders.
Mr.R.O Abdul Kader, Vice Chairman,BHPS,  and  Board of Directors ,Mr. K.M.Arunan, Mr. Nazar, Mr K.M.Anil Kumar and Mr. Hameed graced the occasion with their presence.
The school Hockey team that won the overall championship in Qatar Junior Hockey tournament organised by QHF which was conducted on 30th May,2014,were felicitated by the school on this occasion.

Bhavans Hockey Team Impress At QHF Schools Competition , 30th May 2014

Bhavan’s Public school bagged the coveted hockey titles conducted by the Qatar Hockey Federation on 30th May bringing laurels to school. Bhavan’s team lifted the Over-All champions trophy for both the boys and girls category. Bhavans public school won gold medal in Under 9 and 18 girl’s category and Under 9 boys category, besides finishing Runner-Up in under 13 boys and girls category

Mom & Me, 29th May 2014

Bhavan’s public School celebrated Mothers Day on 29th May, 2014 at Matar Qadeem Campus with the Fancy Dress Competition titled ‘MOM & ME’.
The show provided a platform for mothers to showcase their talents along with their child.
The Chief Guest for this occasion was Mrs. Resha Udenia, wife of Mr. Dinesh Udenia, 1st Secretary, Indian Embassy, Doha, Qatar. The programme began with a prayer followed by a heart rendering song ‘A Tribute to Mothers’. Mr. V.L. Balasubramanian, the Principal welcomed the gathering and highlighted on the importance of the day and Mr. Saleem Ponnambath presided over. Mrs. Udenia in her inaugural speech narrated her experiences as a daughter and a mother. Soon after the formal function the fancy dress competition took place simultaneously at two venues and was judged by a panel of eminent persons from the field of Art & Culture.

The highlight of the day was the spectacular performance of Moms that kept the audience enthralled and spellbound. The results were declared and prizes given to the winners. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Mohammed Salah, Convenor Arts Club.

KG Colour Day,11th May to 14th May, 2014

As a part of colour day week celebrations, the students of KG section at Bhavan’s Public School enjoyed learning through play way method in order to identify and recognise the four colours “Red, Blue, yellow and Green” through lots of activities. On each day from 11th May to 14th May, 2014 the class rooms were beautifully decorated with balloons, ribbons, fresh flowers, paper cut outs, etc. with one colour concept. The teachers also came dressed in the same colour and displayed many objects as per the colour of the day. Different innovative activities were conducted like making of wrist bands, collage work, beautiful smiley cherry cut-outs, made sunflower through paper plate colouring, story time on Little Red Riding Hood, sang colour songs, and talked about the colour and made verbal list of items of these colours during circle time. The teachers organised a power point presentation on coloured objects. A special area was set up as “Colour Corner” and one by one the students were asked to identify the objects kept on the table and to place the same in the Colour Corner, the little ones enjoyed doing this. They played games based on the theme and took home beautiful yellow duckling, green leaf, red cherry and blue whale cut-outs as part of their activities.

Vegetable Garden Season -3 Harvest -6(10th,May 2014)

The 6th harvest of vegetables from Bhavan’s Public school Vegetable Garden Season 3 took place  on 8th May,2014 at its Matar Qadeem campus.Mr. Hamad Al Kuwari, Director, QFA inaugurated the occasion by harvesting tapioca from our school vegetable garden. Around 15 Kgs of tapiocas, 4 Kgs of carrots and 5 Kgs of tomatoes were harvested by the Eco Club members, Principal, Mr. V. L. Balasubramanian. The other dignatories and members present were Mr. KMS. Hameed, Director, BHPS, Mrs.Prabhavathy Nambiar, Vice Principal, Mr.Hamdi Hussain, CSR officer, QFA, Mrs. Anjana Menon Administrator, BHPS, Coordinators Mrs.Pushpa Rajan , Mrs.Shyna Anil and the ECO Club Convenor Mr.Rajeev.
The vegetable garden Season 3 is the continuity of the first Vegetable Garden Season – 1 for which the school was awarded a “ Green Star” on the Eco School Projects organized by Doha Bank-Green Banking along with UNESCO.

Emir Cup Visit,(10th,May 2014)

The students of BHavan’s Public School from both its campuses had an opportunity to see the prestigious Emir Cup Trophy at its Matar Qadeem Campus on May 8th 2014.The Trophy tour was organised by the Qatar Football Association. The trophy visit featured a heartwarming welcome reception that was organised by the school. The Vice Principal Mrs Prabhavathi Nambiar welcomed the officials of QFA and all those who gathered there. The Principal Mr V.L. Balasubramanian delivered the Presidential address. Mr.Hamad Al Kuwari , Director, QFA in his keynote address lauded the school for the outstanding performance put up by  the students during the Quarter Finals of Emir Cup on the 3rd of May at Al Saad Stadium and for the colourful reception given for the Emir Cup Trophy tour. Mrs.Pushpa Rajan proposed the vote of thanks. The school officials, the faculty members and the students gathered enthusiastically around the Trophy and took pictures.

The Bhavan’s Public school took pride in performing a scintillating cultural items at the Al Saad stadium on 3rd of May during the Quarter Finals of Emir Cup Foot Ball match. Nearly 500 students displayed a colourful dance, aerobics and mass drill.

Elections to the school parliament for the academic year 2014-15 were held here at both the Matar and Wakra campuses respectively. The contest was chiefly held for the three posts namely the school leader, School Deputy Leader (Girl) and School Deputy Leader (Boy).  The election process which is deemed to be the inevitable component of democratic set up has given the students an opportunity to taste the tint of democracy. Students from classes 3 to 10 casted their votes to choose their leaders .Three polling booths, supervised by election officials were arranged for the smooth conduct of election and also trained student cops were deployed to prevent untoward incidents. The candidates were chosen for the contest after scrutinizing through the nomination papers by an apex body headed by the school principal, Mr. Balasubramanian and the election department. Mrs. Prabavathi Nambiar was the Chief Returning Officer for both the campuses.
Seven candidates ran for the post of School Leader, 6 for the Deputy Girl and 6 for the post of deputy school boy. The election officials had a tough time and witnessed some dramatic moments in counting the votes as the competition was neck to neck. When a single vote became decisive, the polling officials went for recounting. After the third round of recounting Dominic Roy was declared as the school leader gathering 227 votes and the opponent Ayesha sajid 226.At Matar Alna Shireen  Albi was elected as the deputy school leader Girl and Aaditya GR as Deputy Boy. Nayeema Saifudhin was voted to power as school Deputy Leader Girl and Edwin Raju as Deputy Boy at Wakra campus. The elections were monitored by Activity Co-ordinator Pushpa Rajan.
